On this Master’s programme you’ll explore the principles and practice of project management. You’ll cover topics including strategic and practical approaches in different business environments, and discover the influence of successful project management on any organisation. MSc Project Management is accredited by the Chartered Association for Project Management (APM), the professional body for project management in the UK. During the course you can become a student member of the APM for free and attend APM webinars and events to develop your knowledge and professional network.  

This course is delivered on a block basis, which means you’ll study on campus for short periods of time during the year. Whether you’re a busy working professional or an international student, these study blocks give you the ability to stay on campus for a shorter period of time than many other postgraduate degrees so you can complete your studies around your current commitments.  

Entry Requirements

  • A second-class honours degree or equivalent, or sufficient evidence of both relevant work experience and academic potential to achieve the award.
  • English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 with no component score below 6.0.

Career Prospects

The demand for project managers is increasing, and an accredited degree in project management can demonstrate these skills to employers. Graduates with this degree can lead or be part of a team on strategic projects and have a solid understanding of project management principles and processes. Course Details

The Master's degree program at Portsmouth University is designed to accommodate international students who may be juggling work or family responsibilities. The program offers a one-year full-time program starting in September or January, with study blocks on campus. The course is more specialized than an undergraduate degree, allowing students to focus on a specific topic with dedicated academics. Independent study and research are more common, but teaching time will be primarily in-person and face-to-face. Teaching methods include lectures, seminars, interactive syndicate work, and self-directed study. Assessments will be conducted through coursework, reports, and presentations. International students are expected to join the Portsmouth campus. The course structure is expected to be full-time, with students studying on campus in study blocks.
