The University of Portsmouth has earned business accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in recognition of the outstanding quality of its business and management education.
Founded in 1916, AACSB is the longest-serving global accrediting body for business schools, and the largest business education network connecting learners, educators, and businesses worldwide.

Through its business accreditation, the AACSB recognises institutions that meet the highest international standards of excellence in business education. A total of 1,013 institutions across 60 countries and territories have now earned AACSB accreditation in business, with currently only around 30 UK universities. Furthermore, 194 institutions maintain supplemental AACSB accreditation for their accounting programs.

The university traces its history to over 150 years, when Portsmouth and Gosport School of Science and Art was established in 1870. In 1992, it gained the status as Portsmouth University.

Portsmouth university offers about 200 undergraduate degrees, 150 postgraduate degrees and 65 research degree programs. The university has five faculty, namely,

Faculty of Business and Law, Faculty of Technology, Faculty of Science and Health, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries.

The university is spread across two campus, University Quarter, centered around the Portsmouth Guildhall area, and the Langstone Campus. The Ravelin Sports Centre comprising 8-court sports hall, 8-lane swimming pool, 175 station fitness suite, multipurpose studios, squash courts, climbing wall and a ski simulator is the latest addition to the university’s sports facilities.

Entry Requirements

Most need 112–120 UCAS Tariff points from 3 A levels (or equivalent), plus at least 2 GCSEs at Grade C/4 (or equivalent) or above including English and Mathematics. We also accept Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Mathematics.

Entry Requirement for Postgraduate Courses

Qualifications and experience.

A second-class honors degree or equivalent professional experience and/or qualifications.

English Entry Requirements

English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 with no component score below 6.0.

If you don't meet the English language requirements yet, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English program before you start your course.

Different courses need different levels of English, usually measured on the International English Language Test System (IELTS).

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS – WORK-BASED DEGREES

Undergraduate Courses

Although it's possible to do an undergraduate degree with A levels (or equivalent qualifications), most undergraduate applicants on Learning at Work courses have some higher education experience (such as an HNC, HND, or credits from a degree course or another qualification) and several years of work experience they can use as credit towards their degree. Experience in a position of responsibility is particularly valuable.

Postgraduate Courses

You usually need a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) to do a postgraduate degree course. However, we may accept qualifications such as HNDs and Foundation degrees if you have several years of relevant post-qualification experience in responsible posts.

Typical applicants for postgraduate courses are usually working at a professional level.

If You Don't Meet The Entry Requirements

If you don’t have 3 A levels, we can take other qualifications (such as AS levels) and work experience into account, in some courses.

If you don’t have 2 GCSEs at Grade C/4 (or equivalent) or above including English and Mathematics, you could get these through our partner provider, Fareport Training during your degree apprenticeship.
