The entry requirements you need to meet will depend on the course you want to study.

We consider all applications we receive. However, to make sure you get the most out of your time studying with us and have the best chance of applying successfully, we recommend the following minimum qualifications:

Foundation Courses

If you have the Year 12 - Higher Secondary School Certificate or below, a Polytechnic Diploma, or 2-year degrees (Pass Degrees), you'll usually need to do a foundation year before doing an undergraduate course such as a Bachelor's degree.

We recommend you take a foundation course at our associated college International College Portsmouth (ICP).

Undergraduate Courses

If you've completed the Year 12 - Higher Secondary School Certificate or below, a Polytechnic Diploma, or 2-year degrees (Pass degrees) plus one year at a recognised university in Bangladesh, we'll consider you for admission onto an undergraduate course such as a Bachelor's degree. You must have studied relevant subjects and achieved strong grades.

A levels

• Please check your specific course page to find the exact number of points needed. Your A-level grades should equal or exceed the total points required.
• Some courses will require you to have studied specific subjects at A level. For example, to study a science course you will usually need to have achieved passing grades in scientific at A level.

International Baccalaureate

Most courses will require between 24 and 31 points in the International Baccalaureate (IB), depending on the degree you apply for.

You can also apply for Year 1 undergraduate degree entry with the following qualifications:

• Higher National Diploma (HND)
• LLB (Hons) is considered comparable
• Diploma in Engineering (3 years)
• 3 Year Degree (honors)
• BA degrees in Arts, Science, and Commerce
• Professional Degrees

For Year 2/3 entry, you will need:

• Some professional degrees
• Bachelor of Science (Engineering)
• Master of Arts, Science, and Commerce

You may be able to join an undergraduate course with other qualifications.

Postgraduate Courses

For entry to our postgraduate Master's programs, you'll usually need to have one of the following from a recognised Higher Education institution:

• four-year bachelor degree from a UGC (University Grants Commission) approved university
• Master of Engineering and Master of Science (Engineering) with over 60%

Typical minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) requirements:

• From 2.75 on a scale of 1-4
• From 7 on a scale of 1-10

If you don't meet the postgraduate entry requirements, you can do a pre-master's programme at

 International College Portsmouth (ICP)

English Language Requirements

When you join us, it’s important that you can speak and understand English to the level that your course requires. The specific English language requirements will be on your chosen course page.

We accept IELTS, IGCSE, and several other certificates, but don’t worry if you're currently short of the standard required – we offer English Language Programmes

that will get you to the necessary level.

Undergraduate Courses

If you have an average of 75% or above in the 12 Standard (State Board) examinations or 70% in the Central Board, we'll consider you for admission onto an undergraduate course such as a Bachelor's degree. You must have studied relevant subjects and achieved strong grades.

You can also apply if you have successfully completed a recognised foundation programme. We recommend you take a foundation course at our associated college International COllege Portsmout (ICP).

A levels

• Please check your specific course page to find the exact number of points needed. Your A level grades should equal or exceed the total points required. You can use the UCAS Tariff Calculator to work out your total points.
• Some courses will require you to have studied specific subjects at A level. For example, to study a science course you will usually need to have achieved passing grades in scientific subjects at A level.
• A level points: A* = 56 A = 48 B = 40 C = 32 D = 24.

International Baccalaureate

• Most courses will require between 24 and 31 points in the International Baccalaureate (IB), depending on the degree you apply for.

If you have progressed from 10th Standard to a recognised three year diploma, you may be considered for entry to the second year of a relevant programme if you achieve 60% or above during your diploma studies. If you have a Higher National Diploma, you may be considered for advanced entry onto certain undergraduate degrees.

Postgraduate courses

For entry to our Master's programmes, you will generally need to have a Bachelor's degree with at least 2nd Class Honours to be considered.

You may be admitted to Master's programmes with a lower level degree if you have work experience relevant to the degree applied for. Find out more about Recognised Prior Learning.

English Language Requirements

When you join us, it’s important that you can speak and understand English to the level that your course requires. The specific English language requirements will be on your chosen course page.

We accept an overall score of 75% or above in English on the India Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC)/Standard 12, IELTS, IGCSE and several other certificates, but don’t worry if you're currently short of the standard required.

Foundation Courses

If you've achieved 5 WAEC/NECO subjects (including mathematics and English language) with minimum grades of 1-6 or A-D, you'll usually need to do a foundation year before doing an undergraduate course such as a Bachelor's degree.

Undergraduate Courses

Once you've completed a foundation course, we'll consider you for admission onto an undergraduate course such as a Bachelor's degree.

A levels

If you have completed ADSE (APTECH) with credit or achieved GPA of 2.0 (NCC/Informatics), you may be considered for final year (top-up) entry onto the following courses:

• BSc (Hons) Computing and Digital Image
• BSc (Hons) Business Information Systems
• BSc (Hons) Web Technologies
• BSc (Hons) Computing and Society
• BEng (Hons) Computer Networks
• BSc (Hons) Computing and Information Systems (Distance Learning)
• BSc (Hons) Business Information Systems (Distance Learning)

If you achieved a minimum GPA of 3.5 or above at ADSE, you can be considered for final year (top-up) entry onto the following courses:

• BSc (Hons) Computer Science
• BSc (Hons) Software Engineering
• BSc (Hons) Forensic Computing

For entry to our postgraduate Master's programmes, you'll usually need to have a Bachelor's degree from a recognised Higher Education institution:

• 2:1 is equivalent to GPA of 3.5/5.0 (60-69%)
• 2:2 is equivalent to GPA of 3.0/5.0 (50-59%) 

Although some courses may require a higher overall CGPA, we are also happy to consider applications with a slightly lower GPA on an individual basis.

If you don't meet the postgraduate entry requirements, you can do a pre-Master's programme at International College Portsmouth (ICP) for many of our courses.

English Language Requirements

Postgraduate courses

For entry to our postgraduate Master's programmes, you'll usually need to have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised Higher Education institution.

Typical minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) requirements:

• UK 2.1 equivalent: 65%, or GPA 2.75/4.0
• UK 2.2 equivalent: 55% or GPA 2.50/4.0

Some courses require a higher overall CGPA, however we are happy to consider applications with a slightly lower GPA on an individual basis.
