The Master of Applied Linguistics and TESOL program is intended for individuals with at least three months of full-time teaching experience or who have completed initial ELT, TESOL, or TEFL teacher training. The curriculum focuses on implementing contemporary TESOL theory in classrooms, allowing students to apply their knowledge in a variety of teaching scenarios. Students will apply a global perspective to evaluate their own teaching methods, do research on teaching practices, and investigate lesson preparation and course design. Students can select full-time, part-time, campus-based, or distance learning choices. Graduates will have a stronger understanding of TESOL and the abilities required to flourish as an experienced practitioner.

Entry Requirements
- A second-class honours degree or equivalent.
- Initial teacher training and a minimum of three months full-time, relevant, teaching experience.
- If you do not have relevant teaching experience, you can still apply for our campus programme, and you will study an additional non-credit bearing module The Classroom Practice of TESOL at no additional cost.
English language proficiency at a minimum of IELTS band 6.5 (or equivalent) with no component score below 6.5.

Course Details

Part-time study lasts two years on campus, with all core material available online for flexibility.

Teaching methods include seminars, workshops, one-to-one tutorials, and academic skills development workshops. Assessments are conducted through written assessments and dissertations, with students able to test their skills and knowledge informally before submitting them for final marks.
