Podiatry Degree Apprenticeship BSc Hons

The Podiatry BSc(Hons) apprenticeship course offers a unique opportunity to study while working within a Podiatry team. The course focuses on developing essential skills and hands-on experience in specialist clinical facilities, aiming to improve patients' mobility and quality of life. During term time, the student will spend 40% in their current workplace and 60% at the University, focusing on theoretical and practical skills development. The course is progressively demanding, and once qualified, the student can apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council. The course is designed to prepare students for working in a multidisciplinary team and includes learning to undertake minor surgical procedures using local anesthetics and obtaining a prescription-only medicines annotation.

Entry Requirements

  • Eligibility criteria: BBBat A Level, Meritat T Level, DDMin BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma, NCFE CACHE Technical Level 3 Extended Diploma, Access to Higher Education Diploma with 45 Level 3 credits, or NVQ Level 3 Diploma or higher with clinical experience.
  • Eligibility criteria: completed level 3 study within the last 6 years, understanding of the profession.
  • Requirements: 2 years Podiatry Assistant, Foot Care Assistant, or Foot Health Practitioner experience, recognized course completion.
  • Offers subject to interview and references.
  • Applicants must provide enhanced DBS and occupational health clearances.

Career Prospects

As a registered practitioner, you can apply for positions in the NHS, including hospitals and community health trusts, private practice, and education. Following additional training, you could specialize in musculoskeletal care, orthotics, diabetes, and high-risk patients, as well as podiatric surgery.
