Engineering Management MSc

Engineering management is a specialised field of management concerned specifically with the engineering sector. Reflecting industry demand for management-focused engineers, this course is designed to extend the knowledge, skills and ability of graduates in engineering, technology and applied science to the level required of senior management positions in the engineering industry.

Industrial productivity and performance of many manufacturing companies is considered by many to be of concern. Part of the underlying cause of this problem is the lack of highly-educated and trained engineering and technology graduates entering the Engineering Management discipline. There has never been a more important time for businesses to have technically competent managers.

During this course you will study advanced modules covering such areas as; strategic management, new product development, supply chain planning and control and total quality engineering, these modules should provide you with a greater depth of knowledge and skill.

Graduates of this course are likely to progress to roles as an engineering manager. You may also find opportunities in general management in a wide range of sectors, although your skills would be most appropriate in management roles that benefit from a background in engineering, such as manufacturing or technical service industries.

Entry Requirements

  • An Honours degree (2:2 or above) in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or similar, or in a closely related science subject area such as physics or mathematics or an equivalent professional qualification.
  • You are also encouraged to apply if you have other qualifications and/or experience and can demonstrate that you are equipped with knowledge and skills equivalent to Honours degree level.
  • IELTS is 6.0 overall with no element lower than 5.5, or equivalent will be considered acceptable
