An EntD is a type of PhD, the highest academic award for students. It involves a research project that contributes to knowledge, but is designed for students focusing on research for new businesses, social enterprises, or innovative service ideas. A full-time EntD is a three-year program, with 5/6 of the study time dedicated to research and 1/6 for developing a business plan. The EntD requires a large-scale research thesis and business plan, typically 50,000 words. Completing an EntD can provide personal achievement, transferable skills, and contribute to knowledge development in the chosen field.

Entry Requirements
The normal entry requirements for enrolment on the EntD is:
- a Master's degree from a UK University or equivalent, in a discipline appropriate to the proposed programme to be followed, or
- an upper second class honours degree from a UK university in a discipline appropriate to that of the proposed programme to be followed, or
- appropriate research or professional experience at postgraduate level, which has resulted in published work, written reports or other appropriate evidence of accomplishment, or
- appropriate knowledge and experience of business planning and business start-up, and/or experience of starting up a new service requiring substantial project and financial planning.
- IELTS is 6.0 overall with no element lower than 5.5, or equivalent will be considered acceptable.Â
