This degree in business management teaches you the practical skills you need to become an effective business leader in a range of industries and sectors.

Our business management degree is for newcomers to managerial roles or anyone with some practical managerial experience who wants to develop their management skills across business and management disciplines.

You'll develop a broad understanding of business management essentials by learning about leadership and management skills, business strategy, organisational behaviour, cross-cultural management, business research methods, ethics, marketing, and finance. You can also choose a project type that suits your interests (dissertation, consultancy project, or international entrepreneurship project).

You'll emerge with interpersonal and transferable skills and open a world of new opportunities to build a successful career as a business manager or to start your own business. Popular careers for business management graduates include a range of business management roles in the private, public, and voluntary sectors in large companies, SMEs, start-ups, social enterprises, and charities.

Career Prospects

Will I have a work placement?

Work placements are optional, and you are responsible for arranging your placement with support from the university.

Previous students  have secured a placement year at the NHS, Santander, Net-A-Porter, Intel and Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

How long is my placement?

Work placements are 9-12 months of full-time paid work. You take this between the second and third years of study.

What are the financial arrangements?

UK placement annual salaries range between £13,000 and £18,000 pro rata. Some charity/voluntary work organisations offer travel costs and lunch expenses in lieu of a full salary.

What sort of careers do graduates pursue?

Career options include management roles in the private, public or voluntary sectors of industry, including positions in general management, functional management (finance, marketing, operations or personnel), management consultancy or small business initiatives.

Are internships available?

Internships are optional, and last for a minimum of six weeks. Gain a Certificate in Professional Practice and valuable employment experience before graduating.
