This course is designed to give you the skills and knowledge required to prepare you for a rewarding career in a number of healthcare professions.

You will understand the key contemporary issues relating to the roles of health professionals, including nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, paramedics and operating department practitioners alongside the skills required to progress within higher education.

You will examine the importance of the professional values, standards and working practices required to support patient-centred care and support. This course will provide you with a level of academic and develop your self-confidence that will aid your transition to a relevant degree course and then the workplace.

All successful students on this course are guaranteed an interview for degree courses in nursing and allied health profession courses at Coventry University and will be supported in making your application, subject to completing your application before the UCAS January deadline. The grade requirements may vary by course, see individual course pages for further details. Throughout this course you will be encouraged to develop your level 2 Literacy and Numeracy application to the vocational setting  in order to meet the entry requirements of your chosen degree course.

Entry Requirements

  • 40 UCAS tariff points. Applicants should have A levels or equivalent qualifications and hold a Level 2 qualification (equivalent to GCSE) in English and Maths.

  • IELTS: 6.0

Course Details

After successfully completing this course you will have gained knowledge and experience of working in a variety of health professions, acknowledging the professional values and standards required. You will also be well prepared to study at degree level. You will explore fundamental knowledge in areas such as anatomy, physiology and pathology and approaches to health and wellbeing In addition to the application of vocational numeracy and literacy.

You will also explore the role of professional bodies including the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the standards required for progression into the roles they cover. In addition this course will prepare you fully for the values based recruitment approach set out by Health Education England.
