The origins of the university can be traced back to the Maidstone College of Art established in 1867. In 2008, It gained university status and was christened as

University for the Creative Arts.

The university has campus in Canterbury, Epsom, Farnham, Rochester, Maidstone TV Studios, Royal School of Needlework, The Institute for Creativity, and Innovation (ICI).

Home to over

7,800 students, UCA offers more than 120

courses in Architecture, Crafts, Fashion, Graphic Design, Illustration, Fine Art, Photography, Film, Media, the Performing Arts and Creative Business.

Entry Requirements

International Baccalaureate:

The number of points you need to achieve can vary depending on the strength of your portfolio and the number of Higher Level points you achieve. As a guide, the number of points applicants are usually asked to achieve is

  • Bachelor’s courses (except BA (Hons) Architecture): 27 total points. 
  • BA (Hons) Architecture: 29 points.
  • Four Year Bachelor’s and Further Education Courses: minimum of 24 points.

Master of Architecture (MArch):

For the MArch, we require the equivalent of a UK 2:1 Honours degree in Architecture. For international qualifications, the exact grade required will be confirmed at the time of application. If you have any queries, please get in touch with the Admissions team.

English Language Requirement:

In order to support students who are impacted by the ongoing challenges of the pandemic, we have approved the following English language tests on an exceptional basis.  These will be accepted for September 2021 and February 2022, and will be reviewed after that point.

  • LanguageCert at home version
  • PSI Skills for English test (UKVI four skills version)
  • Oxford International Digital Institute - English Language Level Test

International Foundation with English:

For those applicants whose scores have not met the entry requirements for their chosen course, we offer our International Foundation courses fully integrated with 6 or 10-weeks English language teaching, helping you to reach your IELTS target for undergraduate-level study.

There are several English tests that you can take to study at UCA.
