Entry Requirements

With a 55-year legacy, Ulster University implements a rigorous admissions process that evaluates students based on their academic history and grades. International students are welcome to submit applications for enrolment:

  • Undergraduate Programs: Completion of secondary education or equivalent qualifications, minimum academic qualifications (e.g., A-levels), and specific subject requirements or assessments may apply.
  • Postgraduate Programs: A bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognized institution, relevant to the chosen field of study. Some programs may have additional requirements or work experience.

Requirements for English Language Proficiency

  • Proof of proficiency for non-native English speakers through tests like IELTS, TOEFL, or Cambridge English Language Assessment.

  • The minimum English language level is commonly referred to as the "B2 level."

  • Most courses at Ulster University require a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 (Academic) or equivalent, with no band score below 5.5. Trinity ISE with a pass at level III also fulfills this requirement.

  • Starting from January 2023, IELTS Indicator is accepted as an alternative test.

  • Some courses may have higher English language requirements, so it is important to review individual course prerequisites.

  • Meeting the English language level for admission also satisfies the minimum requirement for a Student Visa from UKVI.

  • Conditional offers may be given if the English language requirement is not initially met, with the condition of meeting it before the course begins.

  • Ulster University accepts a variety of alternative English language examinations.
