BSc(Hons) Engineering is a one-year top-up course that turns an Engineering Foundation Degree, HND or international qualification into an honours degree. Building on the foundation of your previous studies you can choose modules from across our Engineering Awards together with some from the Business School. This will enable you to, subject to timetabling and prior knowledge, tailor the degree to your interests.

You'll be taught in our new state-of-the-art School of Engineering designed to revolutionise the way engineering is taught. Featuring engine test cells, dedicated collaborative learning spaces and all of the latest high-tech equipment, it's purpose-built to support a wide range of engineering disciplines.

You'll tackle real world issues through live projects with genuine clients, and be encouraged to take risks as you develop solutions in our state-of-the art labs.

Where can it take me?

Choose from engineering careers in the UK and overseas. Opportunities include positions as computer-aided design (CAD) engineers, technicians, mechanical engineers, project managers, and product support engineers.

Entry Requirements

  • GCSE: Grade C/4 in English Literature or Language We do not accept Level 2 Key Skills, Functional Skills or Certificate in Adult Numeracy and Literacy as alternatives to GCSEs.
  • English Language Requirement

    You will also require IELTS grade 6 or above or equivalent. 

  • Specific subjects: FdSc/HND in Engineering or equivalent

Applicants are required to have an HND or Foundation Degree (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline, with content meeting the pre-requisites of the modules on the programme. These include CAD and Computer Simulation (manufacturing pathway); Programming in C/C++ and Signal Processing (electronics pathway). If you do not have an HND or Foundation Degree, we suggest you contact the course leader for advice before applying. We also offer BEng(Hons) and MEng courses in Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electronic Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

Career Prospects

Your combined understanding of engineering practice, information technology (IT), project management and business will equip you for work in a range of industries and professions.

These range from mechanical design, manufacture and operations management, to alternative energies and electronics.

Recent graduates have gone on to work as CAD engineers, technicians, mechanical engineers, project managers and product support engineers.
