Course Details

The Photography degree program offers a comprehensive course that introduces key concepts to contemporary photographic practice through workshops, lectures, tutorials, and visits from professionals in the field. The first year of the program introduces students to the history of photography and develops practical camera and communication skills. The course encourages critical thinking about photography and its impact on culture and society. Students will be taught in specialist studios equipped with state-of-the-art digital and film cameras, Mac computers, and industry standard lighting rigs. Black and white darkrooms are also available for chemical printing.
The course operates on a modular basis, providing flexibility and choice. Full-time students take modules worth 60 credits per semester, while part-time students take proportionately fewer credits. All students take a total of 120 credits per level and 360 credits for the degree as a whole. The overall grade for the course and degree classification are based on the marks obtained for modules taken at levels 5 and 6. The full-time course has one start point in September.
