LLB (Hons) Law meets the QAA subject benchmark for Law. All of our Law degrees and pathways prepare students for the next stage of training to become a Barrister or Solicitor. The LLB includes the fundamental legal subjects required for the Academic Component of becoming a Barrister.
LLB (Hons) Law is the primary path that students take if they want to work in the legal profession. From mock trials to student conferences, the award's distinguishing feature is its student-centered, practical approach to learning. You will be provided with a supportive, guided environment in which to practice skills for careers in the legal sector and raise awareness of the roles of law and lawyers in society.

- GCE A Levels - grades BBC or equivalent
- Pearson BTEC National Extended Diploma - grade DMM
- Access to HE Diploma - Pass Access with a minimum of 80 UCAS tariff points. Applicants to Staffs who are taking the Access to HE Diploma receive a reduced tariff point offer as part of our access and participation plan activity
- UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma - grade of Merit overall
- OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma - grade DMM
- T Levels - Eligible T Level applications will be asked to achieve a minimum overall grade of P (A*-C) or Higher Pass as a condition of offer

Throughout the academic year, you can expect exciting and diverse events that will help you improve your employability skills in whatever career you choose after completing your law degree. We have a number of connections with local firms and businesses that mentor our students and provide guest lectures, which will further pique your interest. Our law fair event is unique to the law department. A number of delegates from law firms and non-law firms attend.
The event allows you to improve your networking skills, learn about the various fields in which you can work, and gain the opportunity to gain work experience or even training contracts.
Course Details
The course at Staffordshire University offers a unique blend of work-related learning experiences and graduate-level employment opportunities. Students participate in presentations, meeting scenarios, case studies, interviewing, negotiation, and practice advocacy. In Year 1, students study the same subjects as all three-year LLB course routes, including Legal Skills, English Legal Systems, Contract Law, Tort Law, Constitutional Law, and Law in Practice. In Year 2, students continue their study of foundations of legal knowledge with EU Law, Administrative Law, Property Law and Application, and Criminal Law.
In the final year, students study the specialist module, Law of Trust and Equitable Remedies for all pathways. They can choose optional modules aligned to their area of interest, such as Mooting and Dissertation, Professional Pathway, Cyber Law, Artificial Intelligence Law, a Digital Research Project, Human Rights, Company and Commercial Law, Jurisprudence, Family Law, private International Law, Healthcare Law, and Law Clinic.
The university also hosts a Law Careers Fair and Networking Event each year, attracting employers for students to network with. The University's Legal Advice Clinic (SULAC) provides students with real-life experience working within the community, offering free legal advice on various subjects. Clinical legal education is embedded into the LLB suite of awards, preparing students for employability skills upon graduation.
The course operates on a modular basis, with 120 credits per level and 360 credits for the degree as a whole. Students take an indicative list of modules for the current academic year, with teaching informed by research and changes periodically.
