The apprenticeships in Social Work at University Centre Shrewsbury and University Centre Warrington are taught through a learner centred, blended approach which is specifically designed to support you to develop the skills, knowledge and values essential in Social Work.

The Social Work Degree Apprenticeship offers an exciting opportunity to complete the social work qualification whilst working within a relevant social care setting. The academic teaching includes in-person lectures, assessed placements, learning in the workplace and directed study. The placements take place within your employing organisation. The course enables you to develop the necessary knowledge, skills and behaviours required of a qualified social worker and on successful completion, leads to eligibility to register with Social Work England.

Information for Apprentices and Employers

The maximum funding cap for this Standard is £23,000.

The taught course is mainly delivered at the University site. The Programme Team have afforded consideration to apprentice feedback to ensure the approach taken provides the optimum means of achieving the learning outcomes for each module, and all learning activities are informed by relevant research and practice.

Your learning will be assessed via a diverse range of assessment tasks designed to mirror those that you might undertake as a professional social worker.

If you are a mature student (21 or over) and have been out of education for a while or do not have qualifications at Level 3 (equivalent to A Levels), then we can consider you and our Foundation Year will help you to develop the skills and knowledge you will need to succeed in your chosen degree.
