Human Nutrition BSc (Hons)

Human Nutrition allows you to study a multidisciplinary subject where social and biological sciences influence health.

Our accredited undergraduate Human Nutrition degree is designed to meet the Association for Nutrition (AfN) competencies required of a professional nutritionist. Our course team is dedicated to providing a course of study aimed at producing professional graduates that continue to be in much demand within our society.

All our tutors are undertaking research and scholarly activity which continues to promote the field of nutrition. We also offer you flexibility in that you can study full-time or part-time.

Our department staff has various skills and experience from across the nutrition and health domain, including exercise physiology, sports nutrition, public health, nutritional science, and dietetics.

Career Prospects

The University of Chester has an award-winning Careers and Employability service which provides a variety of employability-enhancing experiences. Course Details

The Foundation Year will help students develop the skills needed for a degree, such as exam technique, technical report writing and presentation, mathematical concepts, and application of knowledge to different contexts. Year 1 introduces modules that focus on food, physiology, biochemistry, genetics, and microbiology. Year 2 includes the core human nutrition module, and at the end of year 2, students will undertake a work-based placement. Year 3 modules address sports nutrition, food science, and public health nutrition, and students will also undertake a research dissertation in a specific area of chosen interest.
