Create and develop the next generation of innovative video games for one of the fastest-growing industries worldwide.

Our Games Development degree aims to produce industry-ready graduates with all the skills, knowledge, and experience required to successfully enter a career in computer game design. Our game design courses teach programming, design, artistic, and professional skills used across the industry, using the same tools and software used by real-world developers. There is a focus on creating full, portfolio-ready work, integrating all taught skills into individual and group-based projects.

The Chartered Institute for IT is accredited by BCS to fully meet the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered IT Professional.

In addition to receiving tutoring, mentoring, guidance, and support from academic staff, you may also experience events featuring industry professionals or work on an extra-curricular project such as a game jam with your peers. We also work in conjunction with the Informatics Centre, an on-site software development team where students may be employed to work on commercial projects.

Course Details

The Foundation Year provides students with the opportunity to build foundational skills in scientific and mathematical topics, as well as underlying study practices, to prepare for a degree. In Year 1, students learn the fundamentals of game development, technical requirements and standards, and use leading-edge development tools. In Year 2, students further develop their understanding across all the key areas of games development, and undertake individual and collaborative projects. In Year 3, students have the chance to focus on specialist areas of games development that interest them.
