Do you want to have an impact on the world around you? If so, our BA Education (Inclusion, Diversity, and SEND pathway) is the course that will give you the skills and knowledge to do this. Our experienced and accessible course tutors will support you in gaining an excellent understanding of the sociology, psychology, and philosophy of education and how this relates to real-life practice. This highly practical course has placements each year, which will enable you to relate theory to practice and gain transferable hands-on skills.

Our BA in Education will build on current practice and research in the DepartmeWhy study this course with us?nt, providing you with in-depth knowledge and understanding of education drawing on the disciplines of sociology, philosophy, psychology, political science, and history, to enable you to develop knowledge and skills in the academic study of education. The use of outside speakers on the course, who are experts in the field and practitioners in a variety of educational disciplines, helps to demonstrate education studies in a real-world context.

The Inclusion, Diversity, and SEND pathways enable you to develop an understanding of a growing area of interest in the field of education.

Embedded at the heart of the course is the emphasis on employability skills, ensuring that you will be equipped to enter a diverse range of careers, both directly from the course as a graduate professional and with further study at the postgraduate level.

Our commitment goes beyond your undergraduate studies. Subject to achieving a 2:1 in your undergraduate degree, you will benefit from a guaranteed interview on one of our postgraduate teacher training courses and a range of other courses that will allow you to specialize in areas such as special educational needs, leadership, and creativity, as well as pursuing research interests.

Education graduates enter a variety of education-related jobs, such as developing careers in training staff in industry, teaching, coaching, therapy, counselling, management, working in museums and galleries, and working in school in support roles. The final year of study enables you to develop the skills to question and challenge your practice, and to develop your skills in research by exploring an aspect of personal interest in greater depth.
