From the first day of your digital marketing degree course, you will begin to learn the skills to develop from student to digital marketing expert. In your first year, learn marketing fundamentals alongside the practical application. Start to build your professional portfolio with real live digital projects. In Year 1 you will build and launch your website.

In the second year of your degree, you will build upon these skills and use more specialized digital marketing techniques. Open and explore the digital marketer’s toolkit, including social media, mobile, virtual, and augmented reality. Discover the wealth of possibilities the digital marketing toolkit has for creating outstanding, successful campaigns. Work on live social media campaigns so you can see the results of your planning and creativity in real-time. Start to shape your career path by focusing on an aspect of digital marketing that inspires you and undertake a five-week work placement that suits your interests and ambitions.

You can take an optional year-long placement which brings your course to life and will enhance your graduate employment prospects. You may even spend this year studying business and management abroad in Europe, North America, Asia, or Australasia.

In your final year, you will look at all the exciting developments in digital marketing techniques that will impact upon the future of marketing. This includes mixed reality, understanding big data, and smart technologies. You will continue to work on practical digital marketing projects to add to your professional portfolio. Projects you may showcase would include the apps, mobile websites, or augmented reality tools that you have created.

You will carry out an original supervised research project into a subject you select and complete a module designed to maximize your professional success. Everything you study is done alongside the development of hands-on digital marketing skills. You will be looking at solutions to digital marketing challenges for organizations from small companies and charities through to leading multinationals.

Course Details

Year 1 introduces you to digital marketing, while Year 2 develops specialist digital marketing skills by putting theory into practice. Year 3 includes a research project based on a digital marketing topic of your choice, and projects covering subjects such as augmented and virtual reality, big data and mobile marketing.
