BSC (HONS) COMPUTING WITH CYBER SECURITY TECHNOLOGY

The UK Government Cyber Security Strategy 2022-2030 emphasizes the need for developing cyber security skills to counter cyber threats. This programme aims to develop knowledge in information governance, information assurance, cyber security risk management, and penetration testing. It also focuses on digital forensics and the challenges related to digital forensics. The course is designed for those who wish to develop a broad understanding of computing and specialising in cyber security technology. It aims to expose learners to theories, methods, tools, and technologies related to cyber security, threat intelligence, vulnerability analysis, and cyber defense and ethical hacking. Teaching is delivered through lectures, workshops, lab sessions, seminars, tutorials, case studies, guest/expert input, and task-based learning. Assessments involve coursework and exams. The course is taught by experienced lecturers and academics, with technology-enhanced learning (TEL) embedded throughout.

GCSE requirements:
Maths and English Language at minimum grade 4/C, or an equivalent.

Year Two (Level 5)HNC or equivalent Level 4 qualification in an computing or IT subject area
Year Three (Level 6)HND or Foundation Degree in a computing or IT related field.

Applicants holding a relevant computing or IT qualification in addition to one of the following: DipHE, any Level 5 award such as Certificate, Diploma or NVQ, will also be considered.

Please note:

For Level 5 and Level 6 entry you must provide evidence of a Level 2 Maths or equivalent. Exemptions are granted if you can evidence previous study in finance, accounting, statistics, data analysis or research modules at previous levels of study.

Applicants over the age of 21 without formal qualifications yet with appropriate work experience are also encouraged to apply for entry to level 4 or 5. Non-standard qualifications/work experience will need to be considered on an individual basis.

English language requirements

  • IELTS minimum score of 6.0 with 5.5 in each component (or approved equivalent)
