MSc Global Logistics Operations and Supply Chain Management

We welcome applications from both business and non-business graduates, with an interest in a specialist Masters’ education. You will develop your operation, production, service management, leadership competence and confidence within a business context. We will focus on applying these skills globally and in manufacturing, service and public sectors in order to prepare you for a high earning career in business.

The specialist logistics, operations and supply chain management modules cover strategic procurement and logistics, sustainable supply chains and risk management, improving the operations and supply chain, and strategic partnerships.

Our assessment strategy is based on our understanding that everyone has different needs, strengths and enthusiasms and so this course will appeal to various types of learners. You will have the option of finalising your studies with a traditional Master’s dissertation or, a more hands-on consultancy project, where you will tackle an issue faced by a real client. On the Business Logistics Masters, you will gain an appreciation of the interaction between strategic procurement and logistics management. Focus is given to processes that add value through the production and delivery of services and products in the supply chain, and the tools needed for effective process management.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should normally have:

A minimum of a 2:2 honours degree in any subject, or substantial experience of working in a business organisation.

English language requirements:

International applicants are required to have a minimum overall IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 with 5.5 in each component (or approved equivalent*).

Career Prospects

The course includes a focus on developing leadership and management competencies. Topics studied  include emotional intelligence, intellectual competence, cultural awareness and the ability to work in diverse groups and teams. There is a specific focus on self-development, including formal sessions with our Careers and Employment Service which offers a range of workshops, one-to-one advice, and networking opportunities.

Our graduates typically go into graduate positions in areas such as operations management, materials management, purchasing, advanced logistics, and quality management. Roles of recent graduates include supplier quality manager, continuous improvement manager, procurement manager and consultant, quality manager and consultant, transport consultant, distribution services manager, e-commerce operations manager, freight account manager and logistics project manager.

Course Details

  • The improvement in operations and supply chains is considered in local, national and international contexts with particular attention to the contexts of quality and efficiency and their tools and techniques.
  • On the Global Logistics Operations Masters, you will gain an appreciation of the synergy between strategic procurement and logistics management. Focus is given to processes that add value through the production and delivery of services and products in the supply chain, and the tools needed for effective process management.
  • You will also gain exposure to the fundamental principles of contemporary Supply Chain Risk Management and Sustainable Supply Chain Management within a business context.
