Build your experience in rehabilitation

You’ll have access to some of the best sports education facilities in the UK. Here, you’ll build your experience in sports injury treatment, rehabilitation, conditioning, and fitness development.

As part of your course, you’ll spend 400 hours gaining valuable work experience across a variety of settings. Previous students have taken placements at elite sports clubs, physiotherapy clinics, and charity events such as the London Marathon.

You’ll be able to apply for membership at the Sports Massage Association – or an alternative massage organization – once you’ve completed your course.

Career Prospects

The BSc Sport and Exercise Rehabilitation program supports the career of sports rehabilitators, who are in high demand in the sporting world. Graduates can pursue a graduate sports rehabilitator under BASRaT or pursue postgraduate studies in sports medicine, physiotherapy, strength and conditioning, and teaching/lecturing. They can also gain employment in sport rehabilitation clinics, health clinics, elite or amateur sports teams, the leisure and fitness industry, or occupational health units. Graduates have gone on to work in various roles, including Performance Analyst, Rehab Assistant, Massage Therapist, Gym Instructor, Supervisor, and Teaching Assistant.

Course Details

The BSc Sport and Exercise Rehabilitation is a specialist degree that focuses on injury prevention, primary health care, and lifestyle management. Students will learn to provide immediate care following acute injuries or illnesses, recognize potential causes of injury, and implement strategies to reduce injury risk. They will also evaluate an individual's health to determine evidence-based therapeutic and exercise interventions for recovery, return to physical activity, or high performance. The course is taught on campus and at StoneX Stadium, home of Saracens Rugby Club, with 400 hours of clinical practice. Graduates will have knowledge of risk management, nutrition requirements, social, psychological, and physical behaviors, and laboratory and clinical skills for assessing and treating injuries and illnesses. They will also have knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, and experience working with various clients, including the general public and high-level athletes.
