  • The PLN also offers opportunities – supported, though not included in fees – for further networking opportunities. Previous students have, for example, traveled to meet with Middlesex University HRM students at our Dubai campus for a networking event.
  • The course is taught by academics who have close links with the CIPD, and/or who have researched and published on employment law, employment relations, reward and performance management, mentoring, and professional development

Entry Requirements

  • We normally make offers on second class honours degree 2:2 or above in an appropriate subject with an applied quantitative element
  • Candidates with other degrees are welcome to apply provided they can demonstrate appropriate levels of experience
  • Candidates without formal qualifications need to demonstrate relevant work experience and the ability to study at postgraduate level.
  • The most commonly accepted evidence of English language ability is IELTS 6.5 (with minimum 6.0 in all components).

Course Details

The MA Human Resource Management and Development course offers a unique approach to HR education, focusing on the full spectrum of HR knowledge and skills. Students begin with the innovative module "Principles of People Management and Development" and progress to three core modules, including people-related metrics, analytics, and data for insight-driven and informed practice. Four specialist modules are also offered to refine their expertise within the HR field.
The core modules provide a platform for acquiring knowledge, developing critical thinking, and applying theory to practice. They cover threshold concepts, people management and development skills, principles of professional and ethical practice, and tools for influencing others. The final stage of the course involves completing an Applied Dissertation project on an HR topic of interest, guided by an academic supervisor from the Department.
Optional modules are available at levels 5 and 6, but may not be offered on every course. Students will be asked to make their choice during the previous academic year. If an optional module is not offered, the program will advise students after the selection period or at the earliest time the program decides not to run the module and help them choose an alternative module.
