This course is designed to be a challenging, fast-paced and stimulating MBA course, which aims to offer the industry-specific business and management skills you need to build a successful career in international fashion management, upon successful completion.

This course aims to offer a comprehensive understanding of the business of fashion, rather than teaching you to be a designer or producer, so that you may build a potential career in management or leadership, upon successful completion. It focuses on the global and technological shifts which have characterised the industry in recent years; the management of fashion design and product development; and international fashion manufacturing and retailing strategies.

You may have recently completed your undergraduate degree, in fashion or any other discipline. Alternatively, you may have been working for some time and want to accelerate your career progression in fashion, or to make a move into fashion for the first time.

In addition to gaining academic skills and knowledge, MBA students have the opportunity to undertake a professional development programme designed to develop career plans, improve professional skills, and increase employability. Entry Requirements

A second class honours degree (2:2) or equivalent.

Applications from candidates with relevant experience will be considered on an individual basis. Work experience is desirable but not essential.

English as a Foreign Language:

 

This course requires IELTS of 6.5 or equivalent.

Course Details

The MBA International Fashion Management course is designed to address the needs of the next generation of fashion industry professionals, by aiming to provide a challenging and stimulating course that combines the highest quality of academic and professional discipline, built on current research and advanced scholarship, with direct input from and exposure to the fashion industry.

The learning and assessment on the MBA International Fashion Management course is structured around active, participative and individual learning, while focusing on systematic understanding of knowledge and critical awareness of current trends and/ or new insights, much of what is at, or informed by, the forefront of academic discipline, field of study and an area of professional practice.

The opportunity to take part in teamwork, business simulations and real-industry fashion projects with fashion industry clients and professionals (subject to availability and who have previously included clients like London Hat Week, Sarah Haran, Endrime, Laura Lee Jewellery among others), all of which are underpinned by academic analysis and synthesis, and offer students an opportunity to apply their academic knowledge and skills in professional practice.


During the first term, learning will focus on the originality in the application of knowledge, together with practical business understanding of how established techniques of research and enquiry are used to create and interpret knowledge in the discipline together with evaluating of the methodologies and developing their critiques and, where appropriate, proposing new hypotheses relevant to fashion business management and marketing.

The second term is designed to build on the student’s comprehensive understanding of academic knowledge, in order to try and apply these new skills and knowledge through advanced scholarship in a more advanced sectoral setting.

The academic year concludes with several final term options to choose from, to allow students the opportunity to customise their award to the career option they intend to pursue. Students can choose from doing a self-directed research project/ dissertation, applying for work experience in an internship, or a strategic fashion business consultancy project.
