Entry Requirements

An honours undergraduate degree (minimum 2:2) or appropriate work experience in private, public or third sectors (a minimum of two years is required).

It is recognised that some applicants may possess more than one of the above. Careful monitoring of applications to ensure that applicants are suited to the course takes place. Where necessary, applicants are interviewed (remotely if applicable), especially those who do not appear to meet standard admissions criteria. Where deemed appropriate, a written exercise is administered to establish suitability.

English language requirements

  • IELTS: 6.5 overall, (with at least 6.0 in each component area).If you don't meet the English language requirements, you can achieve the level you need by successfully completing a pre-sessional English programme before you start your course.

Those of you who exit the course at the Postgraduate Diploma level will have demonstrated original and critical application of leadership skills and integrative management thinking within health services and across health systems.

This is more than a management course. Managers are responsible for planning, organising, leading, and controlling functions within an organisation. But not all managers are leaders. This course will help you develop the skills needed to be a leader – such as communication, motivation, providing inspiration and guidance, and encouraging employees to rise to a higher level of productivity. You will graduate with a leadership qualification in the healthcare sector, offering you the possibility to work for the NHS, private healthcare organisations or academic institutions.

  • Applying economic thinking and financial awareness-Understand economic behaviour in the healthcare industry; using, prioritising, and allocating resources efficiently, with awareness of the financial implications of operational decisions and how these move strategic objectives forward.
  • Critical thinking and judgement-Evaluate evidence and arguments in situations of complexity and use judgment in appraising the potential impact of initiatives in complex and dynamic social systems and competitive healthcare environments.
