This course aims to expose you to the numerous contemporary issues that exist in international commercial law, and provide you with the opportunity to develop your knowledge and understanding of these issues; as well as the opportunity to enhance your critical awareness of international commercial law.

Entry Requirements

International Entry Requirements Overview (above pre-sessional English box on webpage) A minimum of a 2:2 undergraduate degree in Law, or in a joint honours degree where Law has been studied to an appropriate level. This course is aimed primarily at law graduates, legal practitioners (solicitors and barristers) from the UK and other jurisdictions, and politics and business graduates with some knowledge of law.

 This course requires IELTS of 6.5 overall, with no component lower than 5.5. Pre-sessional English is available if required.

The LLM International Commercial Law course provides an opportunity for you to build on your undergraduate knowledge and skills and further develop your subject knowledge and your legal, analytical and transferable skills.

To further develop employability skills, and help build on your practical experience, this course offers the opportunity for professional experience which could see you extend your course by up to a year through a placement in industry. The skills you have the opportunity to learn and practice on the LLM International Commercial Law course can be utilised on successful completion of the course by those intending to enter the legal profession (in the UK and overseas). However, the utility of the course is not restricted to those who wish to pursue a career in commercial legal practice, as the skills and attributes developed and acquired upon successful completion of the the LLM International Commercial Law course are translatable to many other positive career destinations across the global jobs market. Graduates of the course may also seek to go on to further graduate level study (PhD) or a career in academia. Course Details

Our new LLM in International Commercial Law course has been designed to challenge and cultivate your knowledge around international commercial law.

Aimed at graduates in law and related fields such as business and those already working in legal practice this new course has been designed to give you the opportunity to deepen your knowledge and understanding of international commercial law and closely related topics.

You will examine the obligations of buyers and sellers in commercial transactions, the rights attaching to ownership of goods and intellectual property, potential regulatory barriers to trade in goods, the tax consequences that flow from commercial transactions, and the various legal remedies that exist in international commercial law.

You will be taught by experts in the field of international commercial law, with assessment designed to test both critical understanding of the law, as well as its practical application. In addition to this, you will benefit from over 50 years’ experience of teaching law and have the opportunity to participate in the Coventry University Global Leaders programme (subject to application and costs), and study our CMI accredited module. This course can be offered on a part-time basis, with study over two years. Whilst we would like to give you all the information about our part-time offering here, it is tailored for each course each year depending on the number of part-time applicants.
