Canterbury Christ Church University - Business Management with Foundation Year

Canterbury Christ Church University

Business Management with Foundation Year

Get the skills you need to become a confident business manager. Our course offers an alternative route to higher education and will build your knowledge from day one.

Good business management is at the centre of every successful organisation. Our Business Management with Foundation Year course has a strong practical element, and allows you to build your knowledge and understanding of organisations and how they are managed. A foundation year helps you develop the study skills and self-confidence needed for higher education when you don’t reach the entry requirements for your subject or you need a grounding in a new subject area.

You'll study fundamental areas of business, finance, HR, marketing and operations, and the macro and micro environments in which they operate including cultural, social and ethical issues.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should normally have 32 UCAS Tariff points, although those without formal qualifications may be considered on an individual basis, however these students should still apply through UCAS.

Business School students are also required to have GCSE mathematics at Grade C or equivalent.

Career Prospects

Our teaching team will share with you their expert knowledge, experience and research insights during stimulating lectures, seminars and practical workshops.

You'll be taught over two semesters each year, taking three modules per semester. Typically, you'll have around 12 contact hours per week, depending on your module choices, in addition to independent learning.

Seminars in smaller groups will enable you to discuss and develop your understanding of topics covered in lectures and you'll also be supported by your academic personal tutor.

Between Years 2 and 3 you'll have the opportunity to gain work experience on a year-long placement with an external organisation.

Your final year project will be based on a live brief from a relevant industry.
