Who is this course suited to?

Past students have included doctors, teachers, nurses, midwives, and community public health workers. We welcome professionals from a variety of backgrounds, not just those in healthcare.
The course is appropriate for those with interests in public health, community development, housing, environment, health promotion, transport, environmental health, partnerships, quality improvement, and epidemiology. Public health involves multi-agency involvement and partnerships.
"My degree broadened my knowledge in the areas of partnership development and health promotion, as well as providing me with real-world public health experience. I was given the tools I needed to launch the Dolphin Family Foundation, an NGO, in Nigeria thanks to this.

Entry Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Honours degree with 2:2 in any subject. 

  • If English is not your first language you'll need IELTS (Academic) 6.5 or above, with a minimum of 5.5 in writing, speaking, listening, and reading.

Career Prospects

Due to its emphasis on developing your research skills and knowledge to support public health practice, this course will prepare you for a wide variety of roles in the field of public health. This involves working in a variety of capacities for governmental and non-governmental organizations, either domestically in the UK or abroad.

Course Details

The Postgraduate Certificate in Public Health consists of three units, the Postgraduate Diploma of six, and the Master's in Public Health of a final dissertation unit. Instead of signing up for the entire course, you can study individual units as a CPD (with the exception of the Developing a Study Proposal and Dissertation units).
Our academic public health course is created to reflect local, national, and international agendas for the ongoing professional development of the medical workforce. You can apply for student membership in The Royal Society for Public Health as a student.
