The combination of online writing and broadcasting in this highly practical course hones the characteristics of cutting-edge journalism. You'll play important roles on all of our media outlets while utilizing facilities that meet industry standards. Develop your abilities in web content management, photography, radio production, TV production, digital production, and news writing. Learn about media regulation in detail, problems with press and broadcasting freedoms, approaches to the role of journalism and journalists, ethical conundrums, and professional codes of conduct. Attend weekly seminars with a format similar to a news day to learn how to create your own radio and television packages.
Create a collection of captivating, remarkably unique stories to show prospective employers.
Write for The Breaker, a news and feature website run by BU MA Journalism students, and post your articles there.

Course accreditation

This course will give you the skills you need to pursue a prosperous career in this fast-paced industry. It is accredited by the Broadcast Journalism Training Council (BJTC), the UK's largest industry-backed higher education training body for multiplatform, broadcast, and mobile journalism.


Entry Requirements

  • A Bachelors Honours degree with 2:2 in any subject. 

  • If English is not your first language you'll need IELTS (Academic) 7.0 with a minimum of 6.5 in writing and 5.5 in each component of speaking, listening and reading.

This course will introduce you to radio, television, print, and online journalism, preparing you for a field that is rapidly evolving and heavily focused on multi-media.
