This degree, which is accredited by the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC), with its strong emphasis on real-world experience, is an excellent choice for those looking to gain the expert knowledge and practical skills required to enter the mental health care profession. One in every four people will experience mental health problems at some point in their lives. It is a rapidly growing area of nursing that requires caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable professionals.
This course will teach you how to provide high-quality nursing care, as well as how to enable, educate, and encourage those suffering from mental health issues to progress toward recovery.
Practical experience is essential in the course, with 50% of your time spent on placement in a variety of healthcare settings throughout the south.
For UK students who do not meet the entry requirements for the degree course, we offer a Foundation Year option. This extra year of study will provide a solid foundation in the scientific skills required to prepare you for the Mental Health Nursing degree, while also increasing your confidence, knowledge, and skills for further study. After completing the Foundation Year, you will progress to the full degree and begin your studies in Mental Health Nursing. The Foundation Year will take place at Bournemouth's Talbot Campus.
