The course, which is designed specifically for those interested in the investigative side of forensics, covers both the theoretical and practical aspects of forensic investigation of crime scenes and disaster investigations. Forensic investigation is a broad and compelling subject that draws on scientific methods and practical training in a criminal investigation. It is taught by professional practitioners and expert guest speakers.
The degree provides an understanding and knowledge of key concepts in relevant law, professional skills, crime scenes, and forensic sciences by covering biological and analytical science.
Crime scene reconstruction is carried out in a variety of stimulating environments, including science labs, IT labs, field trips, and dedicated crime scene teaching labs.
Year one is shared with BSc (Hons) Forensic Science students, with the option to switch degrees at the end of the year.

Foundation year: For UK students who do not meet the entry requirements for the degree course, we offer a foundation year. This additional year of study will provide you with a solid foundation in the scientific skills required for this course and boost your confidence, knowledge, and skills for future studies. You will progress to the full degree after successfully completing the foundation year.

Course accreditation

Accreditation by the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences provides an indicator of quality and can help you work towards Chartered Forensic Practitioner status.

Entry Requirements

104 - 120 UCAS tariff points including a minimum of 2 A levels or equivalent. BTEC Extended Diploma: DMM.

Foundation year:

This course will be taught by a variety of instructors with relevant expertise and knowledge to the unit's content.
