This degree prepares high-caliber engineers to function as both engineers and technology leaders in industries such as aerospace, marine, automotive, alternative energy, oil and gas, and other high-tech sectors. Choose whether to pursue the course as a BEng (Bachelor of Engineering) or MEng (Master of Engineering) degree.

Course accreditation 

The BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering degree is accredited by the Institution of Engineering Designers and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers to meet in part, the exemplifying academic benchmark requirements for registration as a Chartered Engineer (CEng). The Foundation Year is not accredited.

Entry Requirements

  • 104-120 UCAS tariff points including 2 A-levels or equivalent. BTEC Extended Diploma: DMM.

  • GCSE English Language or English Literature and Mathematics grade 4 (or grade C in the old grading system). We also accept iGCSEs, Key Skills, and Functional Skills, and other qualifications at Level 2 of the National Qualifications Framework.

  • 102–118 UCAS tariff points with any combination of Distinction, Merit, And Pass grades.

  • IELTS (Academic) 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component, or equivalent.
