This course is both an academic and a professional qualification, and it is approved by Social Work England, which means that upon successful completion of your degree, you will be eligible to apply for registration as a social worker. According to the Guardian League Tables, this course has been ranked in the top five in its subject area for the past three years. We have close working relationships with local employers, as well as service user and care partnerships, so you will have the opportunity to develop strong working relationships with those already in the profession. Statutory placements throughout the course ensure that you gain a wealth of relevant experience while working in real-world settings. You will leave us with the specialist knowledge and practical skills required to deal with issues such as child protection, fostering and adoption, adult safeguarding, mental health, substance use, hospital discharge, and disability.

Entry Requirements

  • 104-120 UCAS tariff points including 2 A-levels or equivalent. BTEC Extended Diploma: DMM.

  • GCSE English Language or English Literature and Mathematics grade 4 (or grade C in the old grading system). We also accept iGCSEs, Key Skills, and Functional Skills, and other qualifications at Level 2 of the National Qualifications Framework.

  • 102–118 UCAS tariff points with any combination of Distinction, Merit, And Pass grades.

  • IELTS (Academic) 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component, or equivalent.

Course Details

On this course, you will usually be taught by a range of staff with relevant expertise and knowledge appropriate to the content of the unit.
