Develop skills in all aspects of film production, from concept to completion, from idea to distribution. You will graduate as an enterprising and entrepreneurial practitioner capable of working in and shaping the film industry of today and tomorrow. Through a combination of practical and theoretical approaches, learn about various aspects of filmmaking such as distribution, marketing, purchasing, fundraising, and film production.
Throughout your degree, you will have access to industry standard digital film cameras, editing software, and audio equipment.
Collaborate with internationally renowned film lecturers and practitioners.

Make invaluable industry connections with companies like The Walt Disney Company, Signal Productions, NorthLight Media, and Curtain Calls Production during an optional 30-week work placement.

Foundation year: For UK students who do not meet the entry requirements for the degree course, we offer a foundation year. This extra year of study will provide you with a solid foundation in the media and communication skills required for this course and boost your confidence, knowledge, and skills for further study. You will progress to the full degree after successfully completing the foundation year.

Course accreditation

The International Moving Image Society is a highly respected professional body, uniquely placed to assure, encourage and support industry relevance in media production courses. All of our courses within the Media Production Department have received accreditation in recognition of their industry-standard teaching.

Entry Requirements

  • 104 - 120 UCAS tariff points including a minimum of 2 A-levels or equivalent. BTEC Extended Diploma: DMM.

  • If English is not your first language you'll need IELTS (Academic) 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each comp

Career Prospects

This course aims to produce enterprising and entrepreneurial practitioners who are not only prepared to work in industry as it is now, but also to play an active role in shaping how it will be in the future. Optional specializations allow you to delve deeper into areas such as production management, camera and lighting, location and post-sound, editing, production design, distribution, or festival administration. This means you can tailor your learning to your career goals.
Our graduates will not be limited to 'getting a job' in the competitive field of film production, but will have a wide range of transferrable skills that will prepare them for an engaging career in a constantly changing workplace.

Course Details

On this course you will usually be taught by a range of staff with relevant expertise and knowledge appropriate to the content of the unit. This will include senior academic staff, qualified professional practitioners and research students. You will also benefit from regular guest lectures from industry.
