Entry Requirements

Essential Requirements:

    h a minimum of 2 A Levels.

GCSE: 

  • GCSE English Language at grade C/4 or above
  • GCSE Maths at grade C/4 or above
  • Must have been achieved at the point of enrolment

IELTS: 

  • 6.0 overall with no less than 5.5 in each band.

Career Prospects

The Fashion Branding and Communication course focuses on enhancing employability skills through teaching relevant skills like Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, as well as professional skills like copywriting, creative narrative, trend forecasting, and brand strategy. Graduates have gained experience in various fashion companies, including GQ, InStyle, Grazia, The Daily Mail, Suitcase, Selfridges, ASOS, and Topshop. They have also collaborated with Birmingham-based Lounge Underwear on a live brief to empower women and support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. These collaborations provide students with insight into the daily operations of large online retailers and potential links for placements and graduate jobs. Graduates may pursue industry roles such as art direction, creative direction, styling, photoshoot production, magazine production, brand management, social media content creation, trend forecasting, journalism, copywriting, and fashion film creation.

Course Details

This course aims to develop the skills necessary for a creative, confident, and well-informed fashion communicator, suitable for designers, brands, and influencers. Students are passionate individuals who enjoy working individually and as part of a group. Classroom-based lectures, regular industry speakers, and practical research are essential, with opportunities to visit exhibitions and cities. Collaboration is key in the fashion industry, and students will collaborate on various projects. Trips and visits are offered throughout the three-year program, including visits to London, New York, Berlin, and Copenhagen.
Student stories include Spencer's dissertation research on the 'Gorpcore' trend, which he conducted with global industry representatives from Arc'teryx. The findings from his project are now being used to inform future brand concepts. Georgia's final year film and zine project, 'Second,' showcases the story-telling value of garments in constructing identity for diverse and under-represented communities.

Year One

In order to complete this course a student must successfully complete all the following CORE modules (totalling 80 credits):
Fashion Writing and Design for Publications 40 credits
Trend Forecasting 20 credits
Visual Literacy 20 credits
In order to complete this course a student must successfully complete the following OPTIONAL module (totalling 40 credits):
Creative Fashion Branding Communication 40 credits

Year Two

In order to complete this course you must successfully complete all the following CORE modules (totalling 100 credits):

Industry Competition Briefs 40 credits
Fashion Practitioner Case Study 20 credits
Brand Generation 40 credits
In order to complete this course a student must successfully complete at least 20 credits from the following list of OPTIONAL modules:
Work Placement 20 credits
Collaborative Practice 20 credits

Year three

To complete this course you must complete all the following CORE modules (totaling 120 credits):
Major Project 40 credits
Independent Final Project 60 credits
Self Branding and Promotion 20 credits
