Strategic and Digital Marketing MSc

Grounded in the latest theory, this is a practical programme that will enable you to develop advanced strategic and digital marketing skills. You will learn how to be analytical, create creative campaigns, and develop research skills that will help you assess markets in-depth. This course will help you expand your knowledge of the strategic and critical analytical approaches to marketing, and how digital marketing and social media are planned and executed. You’ll learn about contemporary marketing issues and social and digital media scenarios, which are embedded throughout the course.

Other key themes include insight management, innovation and entrepreneurship, customer management, campaign planning, paid, owned and earned media planning, marketing metrics, working with agencies and international marketing perspectives. Completion of the Direct and Digital Marketing module will give you significant exemptions from the Institute of Direct Marketing’s Certificate in Direct and Digital Marketing.

This is a specialist master's degree for students who already have qualifications in marketing or substantial marketing experience. Entry Requirements

    British Honours degree

     (2:2 minimum) in a relevant subject.

Course Details

This course is grounded in the latest theory and has a strong practical element, providing opportunities to apply knowledge and develop advanced skills. The content of the modules reflects the changing marketing landscape, with developments in social and digital media embedded in certain modules. Other key themes include insight management, innovation and entrepreneurship, project management, customer management, campaign planning, paid, owned and earned media planning, marketing metrics, working with agencies and international marketing perspectives. For the full-time option, students should devote 38 hours a week to their studies, with up to 14 hours contact hours of teaching most weeks for semester 1 and 2. Self-directed study is encouraged, with students expected to make regular use of on-line resources, participate in classroom discussions, and engage in personal study, revision and reflection for approximately 24 hours per work. In semester 3, students should undertake independent research for their dissertation, and will be allocated a dedicated academic supervisor to support them.
