BA (Hons) Global Business Management (Top-Up)

The BA (Hons) Global Business Management is a top up degree which allows students to progress towards an honours degree qualification through one year of further full time study. The degree is run over two semesters and has two entry points in each academic year.

The aim of this course is to provide a high quality and professionally relevant degree qualification, developing in students a critical appreciation of the role managers undertake in the modern international business world together with the skills and knowledge for a multi-disciplinary approach to diverse business.

Entry Requirements

Before making an application, international students (those outside of the EU), should contact the International Office at Cardiff Met to discuss the necessary procedures in relation to studying with us. 

Students whose first language is not English will need to provide evidence of fluency to at least an IELTS 6.0 standard or equivalent. 

Career Prospects

Successful graduates have found positions at supervisory and management level not only within the traditional business and commerce sectors but also small and medium enterprises, public sector and the voluntary sectors.

Others have chosen to continue their studies and have moved on to Masters Level programmes such as the MSc International Business Management, MSc Financial Management and the MBA at Cardiff School of Management.

Course Details

The programme is offered as a one year full time degree. It runs over two semesters with students studying three, twenty credit modules in each semester with a total of 120 level 6 credits obtained over the academic year.

In devising the course content the teaching team has sought to ensure an appropriate balance between academic and vocational skills in order to provide students with a body of knowledge appropriate to the international world of business together with the skills which will enable students to apply such knowledge to realistic international business situations.

In the first semester all students are required to study three compulsory twenty credit modules. These are:

  • Global Human Resource Management (HRM)
  • Global Supply Chain Management
  • Economics, Strategy and Management

At the end of the first semester, students are able to decide, with academic guidance, whether they wish to follow the generic BA (Hons) Global Business Management degree or to take one of the three pathways that the programme offers. Currently the three pathways offered are:

  • BA (Hons) Global Business Management (Human Resource Management)
  • BA (Hons) Global Business Management (Logistics and Supply Chain Management)
  • BA (Hons) Global Business Management (Strategic Management)

Each pathway consists of two, twenty credit compulsory pathway specific modules, as follows:

  • Global Talent Management
  • People Resourcing in the Global Context

BA (Hons) Global Business Management (Logistics and Supply Chain Management)

  • International Logistics
  • Operations Management

BA (Hons) Global Business Management (Strategic Management)

  • Contemporary Business Strategy
  • Global Business Environment

In addition students must select one twenty credit option module from the list provided by the programme.
